Here at REsource, we are committed to discussing the commercial real estate market in Latin America with seriousness and transparency, always seeking to delve into data and analysis, covering topics such as occupancy, vacancy, investments, transactions, REITs, and commercial properties in general. Today, we will keep the real estate market on the agenda but with a slightly lighter tone for a Friday.

There is extensive filmography that addresses the sector. Despite the long list, we selected three essential stories every Real Estate professional should watch! How about taking a moment during the weekend to catch up on these movies?

Boiler Room (2000)

This film provides a critical view of the investment world and corporate culture, revealing the moral implications and consequences of pursuing financial success at any cost. The story revolves around Seth Davis (played by Giovanni Ribisi), an ambitious young man seeking rapid financial success through a job at an illegal brokerage firm.

The movie is for those interested in topics related to the business world, investments, and professional ethics, with a touch of suspense and drama. The cast also includes Vin Diesel, Nia Long, and Ron Rifkin. Boiler Room is available for rental on streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime and Apple TV+.

The Big Short (2015)

Based on the book of the same name by author Michael Lewis, this film tells the true story of the events that led to the global financial crisis of 2008, following a group of investors who anticipated the imminent collapse of the US real estate market.

With stars like Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale, the film was nominated for five Academy Awards, winning Best Adapted Screenplay. The Big Short addresses important financial concepts and presents the investors' perspective to the audience. It can be found on streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO Max.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Perhaps the most "famous" or well-known film on this list, The Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Martin Scorsese, remains one of the most talked-about movies in the corporate world, even almost ten years after its release.

The plot portrays the extravagant and excessive life of Jordan Belfort, who becomes one of the leading figures on Wall Street. He founds his own brokerage firm and quickly amasses wealth through illegal and manipulative practices in the financial market. Also, with five Oscar nominations, the film has a runtime of almost three hours and features names like Jonah Hill and Margot Robbie in the cast. Watch it on HBO Max or Amazon Prime.
