According to the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), the tenth edition of Buen Fin, a popular shopping event in Mexico, saw a significant increase in sales compared to 2019. The sales were primarily driven by the purchase of clothing, shoes, and televisions. However, despite not being officially part of Buen Fin 2020, Walmart in Mexico received the highest number of consumer complaints, mainly related to misleading advertising and issues with order cancellations. Elektra, Chedrahui, and Home Depot also faced consumer complaints, albeit to a lesser extent.

Among the various retailers, Sears and Liverpool were identified as offering the most attractive and significant deals throughout Buen Fin. Additionally, aside from electronics and apparel, alcohol sales also experienced a notable surge during the event. Ricardo Sheffield Padilla, an official from Profeco, expressed concern over the excessive alcohol consumption and encouraged consumers to consider purchasing books instead, which provide longer-lasting enjoyment.

Profeco received complaints about confusing promotions, misleading offers, and product quality issues. The agency provided assistance and received a substantial number of inquiries through their microsite, "Quién es Quién en los Precios" (Who's Who in Prices). The focus now remains on addressing and resolving consumer complaints while urging retailers to simplify their offers and ensure transparency in their promotions during the remaining days of Buen Fin.
