The impact of Amazon Mexico in the country has led to a decrease in prices of products and services in physical stores nationwide, according to a study conducted by the College of Mexico (Colmex).
The report highlights that the arrival of the e-commerce giant has increased competition in the market. Since its launch,
Amazon has expanded its selection of available products for customers in Mexico by over 150%. Currently, it offers more than 45 million unique items.
The presence of
Amazon as incentivized competition in the retail industry, resulting in a decrease of up to 28% in prices of goods and services such as clothing and furniture in physical stores.
The impact of Amazon in Mexico has brought about a widespread reduction in prices.
Since its entry into the country in 2015, it has influenced prices in sectors such as fashion, furniture, food, health, and entertainment.
According to the analysis conducted by Colmex and experts Raymundo Campos, Aurora Ramírez, and Daniel Ruiz, when a product is sold on Amazon, its price starts to decrease in physical stores.

Amazon has opened its first Recruitment Center in Mexico, demonstrating its commitment to the country.
Products sold directly by Amazon experience a price reduction in physical stores, ranging from 1% to 28%. In comparison, when products are sold by third parties through other e-commerce platforms, the price decrease in physical stores is only between 1% and 7%.
