Last week, American Woodmark, a furniture manufacturer, laid the foundation for its first factory in the Ciénega de Flores submarket, located in the Nuevo Leon industrial market. The US-based company invested $45 million and is expected to create 300 jobs while producing cabinets, kitchens, and doors.

The construction team is currently focusing on building more than 25,500 square meters to increase the company's kitchen and bathroom production lines. The new plant will be situated in the CPA-ADN Logistics Center on Nuevo Laredo Highway, which currently has 13 Class A and B industrial buildings with reputable tenants such as American Standard, Mabe, Walmart, and Yanfeng Automotive Interiors, among others, as per SiiLA Market Analytics.

American Woodmark currently produces over 10 million cabinets and up to 648,000 kitchens worldwide. The new plant, scheduled for completion in November 2023, is poised to strengthen the company's growth prospects. According to SiiLA, American Woodmark has four industrial warehouses in Tijuana, including one Class A in La Encantada Industrial Park, two Class B in Pacifico II Industrial Park, and another Class B in Rubies Industrial Facility.

During the groundbreaking ceremony of the U.S. manufacturer's new property, Samuel Garcia Sepulveda, the Governor of Nuevo Leon, indicated that this investment would significantly bolster the state's economic weight. As per Garcia Sepulveda, Nuevo Leon currently contributes 8 percent to the national GDP. However, with an increasing influx of capital, the state could generate between 11 and 12 percent of Mexico's GDP within two to three years.
