The Ministry of Economy announced that the Agreement for the Reciprocal Protection and Promotion of Investments (APPRI) between Mexico and Hong Kong came into effect this Wednesday.
In general, APPRIs establish a framework of clear and transparent rules that, based on reciprocity, legally protect capital flows destined for the productive sector.
"The relationship between Mexico and Hong Kong in terms of investment is already significant, and this agreement further strengthens it," stated the Ministry of Economy in a press release.
Hong Kong is the 26th largest investor in Mexico worldwide, and from 1999 to March 2021, Hong Kong's accumulated investment in Mexico reached $1.18 billion.
