Autoliv, the Swedish-American company leading in the manufacturing of automotive components, has invested $35 million to inaugurate its new and modern manufacturing plant in the city of Aguascalientes.
Strategically located in the FINSA industrial park, this production complex will focus on manufacturing high-quality automotive steering wheels, airbags, seat belts, intuitive steering systems, and other technological innovations.
Kevin Fox, President of Autoliv Americas, emphasizes that this new facility stands out from other installations in different countries due to its exceptional human capital and unique features. With the opening of this plant, Autoliv will create 3,000 new jobs, a remarkable achievement considering it already has a workforce of 800 employees.
This project represents Autoliv's seventh investment in Mexico and one of the 20 new facilities worldwide, with a production capacity of up to three million automotive steering wheels per year. In addition to its focus on high-quality manufacturing, Autoliv's plant in Aguascalientes stands out for its commitment to sustainability.
According to Sergio Argüelles González, President and CEO of FINSA, the building has been constructed following sustainable practices, optimizing water usage and reducing pollutant emissions. "Thanks to the implementation of various strategies, the building has obtained LEED certification. This has been achieved through a 52% reduction in water consumption, the use of treated water for irrigation, and a total energy consumption saving of 7%. Moreover, green areas have been created to enhance the well-being and comfort of the occupants," stated González.
The construction process of this Autoliv facility involved the daily participation of 40 workers, highlighting the importance and impact of this project in the community. Regarding job creation, Martin Orozco Sandoval, Governor of Aguascalientes, emphasized that Autoliv's investment is one of the largest during his administration, both in terms of the number of jobs created and their quality.
