Bridgestone, a Japanese tire manufacturer, announced the opening of its first retread plant in El Salto, Jalisco. The plant is expected to retread over a thousand tires per month, helping to prevent approximately 12,000 tires from entering the waste stream.
By considering the tire's entire lifespan, including retreading with Bridgestone casings that can be retreaded multiple times with proper care, the new retread franchise aims to make fleets in Jalisco more competitive by reducing operating costs.
The Bandag retread products also enhance fuel efficiency by reducing tire rolling resistance. The new plant is projected to create 40 direct jobs.
