With an investment of 300 million pesos (mdp) over the next two years, the new cinema chain CineDOT has arrived in Mexico. This chain aims to establish its presence in the State of Mexico, Mexico City, Morelos, Jalisco, and Guanajuato.
Andrés Capdepon, chairman of the board of CineDOT, stated that the project is supported by Ares Capital Partners and other predominantly Mexican investors. Approximately 300 million pesos will be invested in expanding the chain, primarily focusing on the central region of the country.
In the mentioned locations, the chain plans to generate 800 direct jobs and 4,000 indirect jobs. Their goal is to capture 2% of the market with a total of 120 screens. Although the executive acknowledged that the opening was delayed due to the effects of the pandemic, which prevented the opening of these venues.
The first branch will be located in Coacalco, State of Mexico, and will have eight screens. A second branch is set to open in mid-July, also in the State of Mexico, in Los Reyes la Paz, with seven screens. CineDOT's business strategy includes occupying spaces left by Cinemex and Cinépolis.
The first two branches, which will start operating next month, were previously managed by Cinépolis. "Initially, we are looking for locations that we can recover so that people don't lose those spaces they already had," said Ramón Estévez, CEO of CineDOT.
