Last week, Daikin, the Japanese ventilation, heating, and air conditioning company, launched its expansion strategy in Latin America and North America by commencing the construction of two new production plants in the Millennium Industrial Park in San Luis Potosi. The company invested approximately $300 million in this venture, generating 2.5 thousand new jobs.

Daikin's expansion is expected to be ten times larger than the company's current space in the Millennium Industrial Park, with two industrial buildings covering a gross leasable area exceeding 39.7 thousand square meters, both being Class A according to SiiLA Market Analytics.

The new industrial plants will have green and recreational areas, customer service, training, research and development centers, intelligent parking lots, electrical substations, and showrooms. Additionally, Daikin will be generating renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions.

The duration of the project, known as the Daikin Campus, is expected to be 14 months, and the plants are slated to be ready in the first four months of 2024. The first plant will produce residential air conditioning equipment, while the second will produce higher volume equipment and industrial products.

The company expects to increase its workforce from 1.1 thousand to 4.2 thousand employees by 2023. Daikin arrived in Mexico in 2011, cementing its first manufacturing plant in San Luis Potosí. Since then, the company has invested nearly $500 million.
