Mexico currently ranks as the fourth country in Latin America with the highest number of data centers, boasting 13 installations. Among the standout regions, Querétaro has emerged as the most attractive destination for these centers.

The state offers global services valued at $48.9 billion, a figure estimated to increase to $105.6 billion by 2026, according to Adriana Fernández, Associate Director of Newmark's Bajío team. This growth can be attributed to significant investments by firms like Odata, which injected $79 million in the second quarter of 2022 (2Q 2022) and initiated the construction of a hyperscale data center spanning 52,250 square meters.

The center will feature an 8,260-square-meter building with an initial power capacity of 8.4 megawatts (MW), set to reach 32.0 MW upon completion. Additionally, the Secretary of Sustainable Development of Querétaro confirmed the state has 15 new projects in the pipeline.

The surge in data centers in Querétaro is not only due to strategic site selection by investors, but also the availability of qualified labor, quality supplies, and energy redundancy, making the region highly attractive. The boost in data centers in Querétaro is also a result of the state government's commitment to establishing the Querétaro State Energy Agency

The agency aims to promote, foster, coordinate, cooperate, and participate in the creation of regulations that benefit energy development. It also seeks to generate synergy with public and private entities through the use of renewable energy in the state and promote energy savings and efficiency.
