DHL Express Mexico has received LEED® certification in the Core & Shell v4 category for its new Service Center in Tampico, Tamaulipas.

This recognition, granted by the U.S. Green Building Council, highlights that DHL's Service Center in Tampico promotes water and energy savings, as well as a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.

Mexico City, November 8, 2022: DHL Express Mexico has achieved LEED® certification in the Core & Shell v4 category for its new Service Center in Tampico, Tamaulipas. This certification acknowledges the eco-efficiency and sustainability practices in the design and construction of environmentally friendly facilities.

LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized rating system for sustainable buildings, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The certification process evaluates and assigns scores and certification levels based on a set of standards and requirements that assess sustainability in the design, construction, and operation of buildings with ecological initiatives.

Certified facilities ensure compliance with environmental and economic performance standards focused on the building occupants. With this LEED® Core & Shell certification, the Tampico Service Center can maximize its positive impact on the environment, as well as on the health and productivity of its employees, by providing a high-quality interior space with the following benefits:

  • 38% reduction in water consumption
  • 23% reduction in energy consumption
  • 72% reduction in CO2 emissions
The certification encompasses the implementation of sustainable strategies in various categories, including sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovation in design.

"We are very proud to have obtained LEED certification by meeting all the evaluation requirements for sustainable infrastructure and operations in Tampico. This international recognition commits us to continue implementing actions that bring social, economic, and environmental benefits to all the communities where we operate," stated Antonio Arranz, CEO of DHL Express Mexico. The new Service Center in Tampico is the first "Build to Suit" (BTS) project where DHL Express Mexico has achieved LEED® certification.
