In Mountain View, merely 1.5 kilometers away from its headquarters, the Californian group has erected two enormous glass buildings adorned with solar panels.
Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has not disclosed the cost of its "Bay View Campus," designed to accommodate up to 4,500 employees. As of the end of March, the company boasted around 164,000 employees worldwide, marking a 17 percent increase compared to the previous year.
However, the landscape appears different for some other companies in the sector. Meta (Facebook, Instagram), Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, Snap, Spotify, and Uber have recently announced a reduction in hiring pace due to an unfavorable economic climate, following their substantial hiring spree throughout the pandemic. These new offices, envisioned long before the pandemic, are expected to cater to employees who divide their workweek between onsite and remote work.
