By the end of this year, Grupo Bimbo will be selecting eco-friendly units for the transportation and distribution of its products, as indicated by Rodolfo Emanuel Álvarez Chávez, Global Manager of Technical Studies at Bimbo.
Starting next year, the bakery company will test electric trucks from different brands, with the goal of advancing towards its target of reducing emissions by 50% by 2030. Currently, Bimbo operates with 27,745 distribution units in Mexico, of which only 1,300 are electric, while the rest run on diesel and gasoline.
The company aims to gradually reduce its emissions by replacing its fleet in Mexico with sustainable or fully electric units by 2040.
