Once the red light is lifted, Ikea hopes to open its store in Mexico City as soon as possible. However, the company also has its sights set on the next steps of its expansion strategy in the country, with Guadalajara and Monterrey being key targets.
In an interview with Forbes Mexico, Tonje Randen, the company's Expansion Director, explained that they have embarked on a new recipe for faster expansion in Mexico compared to other regions.
Their goal for the next 10 years is to have branches in the largest urban areas and establish an online presence throughout the entire country.
"We are starting with the megalopolis (Mexico City and Puebla), and our focus for me and the entire Ikea Mexico team will undoubtedly be Guadalajara and Monterrey, two very important markets and major cities," Randen assured.
