Jalisco's Automotive Cluster anticipates growth in regional suppliers

The final ruling of the dispute resolution panel that reviewed the rules of origin for the automotive industry in the T-MEC, which favors both Mexico and Canada, anticipates benefits for the Mexican entities that stand out in the supply of this sector, including Jalisco.

The President of the Jalisco Automotive Cluster, Rubén Reséndiz, commented to El Economista that the dispute won against the United States regarding the interpretation of how to calculate the percentage of regional content of the parts contained in a car is a factor that will determine the growth of the auto parts sector.


Reséndiz Pérez detailed that the value of auto parts production in Mexico reached 106 billion dollars in 2022, representing a 12% annual growth, and anticipated a more significant increase in 2023.
