According to estimates from Statista, the last-mile logistics and shipping industry is projected to reach a revenue of $2.1 billion by the end of this year. Online sales grew by 81% last year, as reported by the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO).
Just a couple of months before the pandemic arrived in Mexico, Lalamove landed in the country from Hong Kong. The delivery platform is part of the digital logistics ecosystem that still has room for more competitors, says Christophe Milhères, Managing Director at Lalamove Mexico.
This solution allows small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to mobilize their goods while also providing job opportunities.
Lalamove coordinates deliveries required by businesses with partners who have vehicles suitable for different types of items being shipped. For example, they can make deliveries using motorcycles, sedans, vans, trucks, or even trucks for bulky goods. "We do this through our platform, which is both a mobile application and a web app. Additionally, for our larger e-commerce and retailer clients, we offer integration via API (Application Programming Interface)," Milhères said in an interview with Business Insider Mexico.
