After a mandatory pause due to the health contingency, the Portal Norte project has received the green light once again. Fibra UNO, the leading real estate investment company in Mexico, and AXA Seguros have jointly announced their participation in the project. The approximate investment in this project is 3.5 billion pesos, which could be seen as a message of confidence for the real estate and construction market.
According to Gonzalo Robina, Deputy CEO of Fibra UNO, it is important to look ahead and adapt to the new reality left by Covid-19. Portal Norte was initially conceived as a mixed-use project that included a shopping center, offices, and a hotel.
However, due to the needs generated by the contingency, the project has evolved and will now focus on being a shopping center, a hospital, and a tower for medical offices or clinics.
The development will have a gross leasable area of 66,000 square meters, divided approximately into 25,000 square meters for commercial spaces, 16,000 square meters for medical offices, and 25,000 square meters for the hospital.
This combination arises as a result of the lessons learned during the pandemic, particularly in terms of the need for hospital and medical infrastructure in the country. The successful formula has already been tested in the Mitikah tower.
