On Monday, FIBRA Shop's (FSHOP) La Perla Life Center received EDGE environmental certification for its energy and water savings, as well as its efficient use of materials. This Zapopan shopping center represents 25% of the entire portfolio managed by FSHOP in the Guadalajara retail market. According to SiiLA Market Analytics, as of Q4 2022, La Perla had an occupancy rate of almost 91%.
This 362,789-square-meter property was inaugurated in April 2022 with a focus on meeting the highest sustainability standards, as per FSHOP's latest report to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV). Following an audit and project evaluation, La Perla received EDGE certification for the 354,265 m2 with a 20% energy savings, 68% water savings, and 21% efficiency in materials used during construction.
EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification assesses new or existing buildings in over 130 countries, including Mexico. This certification, created by the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, aims to promote resource efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of different construction types.
La Perla is a significant building in FSHOP's portfolio, representing the "Life Center" concept developed by the trust. These centers focus on wellness and environmentally friendly spaces that offer visitors a place to spend time, return frequently, and adopt as part of their daily lives. They also provide free sports, social, cultural, and artistic activities while promoting the learning of arts and crafts.
