Grupo POMA, the Italian company specializing in manufacturing vehicle seat structures, has announced an investment of over 130 million pesos for the construction of a new plant in Guanajuato.
This new facility, located in the San Miguel de Allende Industrial Polygon, will create more than 250 direct and indirect jobs. It will be Grupo POMA's second plant in Mexico, in addition to their existing location in Saltillo, Coahuila. The plant will focus on producing structures for rear seats of electric vehicles, primarily catering to the North American market, with Volkswagen in Chattanooga, United States as a key customer.
The first phase of construction will cover an area of four thousand square meters, and production is expected to commence in 2022, generating 41 highly skilled jobs. The subsequent two phases will involve an expansion of another four thousand square meters each, resulting in a total of 12 thousand square meters of facilities.
