In a significant advancement for the Latin American real estate industry, Prologis Park Grande's Building Seven was honored with the prestigious 2023 IMEI-BOMA Mexico Award in the "Industrial Building" category, cementing Prologis' position as a leader in sustainability and operational efficiency in the region. This award, recognizing the real estate operator and developer for excellence and innovation in industrial space design, also marks a milestone for the first building in Latin America to receive the BOMA Best GOLD certification, confirming Prologis' commitment to sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria.

This recognition comes at a crucial time, as the world faces unprecedented climate change and environmental degradation challenges. It's important to note that in early February 2023, Prologis Park Grande's Building Seven obtained the BOMA certification, its second sustainable certificate, after receiving the LEED BD+C certification in February 2019.

According to SiiLA Market Analytics, the property located in the Cuautitlan, Tultitlan, and Tepotzotlan (CTT) submarket of the Mexico City metropolitan area is a Class A building with a gross leasable area (GLA) of over 32,000 square meters occupied by the Brazilian packaging company Grupo Gonçalves.

The 2023 IMEI-BOMA Mexico Award not only highlights Prologis' sustainable leadership. It also acts as a call to action for the entire real estate industry, encouraging other companies to follow the path toward sustainable construction and efficient operation of their properties. This milestone is not only a triumph for Prologis but also represents a significant advancement for Latin America's commercial real estate sector, setting new standards of sustainability, innovation, and corporate responsibility in the region.

Prologis' Sustainable Footprint

According to Hamid R. Moghadam, co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Prologis, four decades ago, he and his partners envisioned what is today a sustainable company ahead of its time. Hamid asserts that before terms like "corporate responsibility" or "ESG" were integrated into the business vocabulary, Prologis already prioritized long-lasting partnerships based on trust, respect, and the creation of shared value, marking an innovative course in the real estate sector. This commitment is reflected in the company's sustainability metrics.

In its most recent corporate responsibility report, Prologis states that, as of 2022, 19.4% of its global real estate portfolio, equivalent to 21.8 million square meters, had environmental certification. Similarly, FIBRA Prologis, the company's real estate investment trust in Mexico, indicates that about 42% of its portfolio, equivalent to more than 1.3 million square meters, has sustainable features certified by BOMA or LEED.

Furthermore, Prologis has ambitious plans to expand its sustainability efforts in Mexico. By 2025, the company aims to increase its solar energy generation capacity to more than 70 megawatts (MW), a significant increase compared to the 1.4 MW installed in 2022. This expansion in renewable energy generation is part of a strategy to reduce the company's carbon footprint and promote greener operations across its real estate portfolio. Prologis' sustainable and ESG efforts in Mexico include innovations ranging from energy efficiency to advanced resource management. These plans include the implementation of green roofs, rainwater collection systems, and sustainable mobility solutions for the occupants of its properties.

By 2050, Prologis is committed to fostering biodiversity in its developments and engaging with local communities to ensure a positive impact beyond its physical boundaries. With these initiatives, Prologis reinforces its sustainability leadership in Mexico and contributes to global efforts for a greener and more responsible future, aligning its operations with broader goals of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility.
