Mexico welcomes yet another Silicon Valley company as GlobalLogic makes its landing. Founded in San Jose, California in 2000, during the internet's boom, GlobalLogic specializes in software design and development. Recently acquired by the Japanese industrial giant Hitachi in 2021, the company has set up two new engineering and sales centers in Mexico City and Guadalajara. Mexico City was chosen due to its status as the capital and primary business hub of the country, while Guadalajara, known as the Silicon Valley of Mexico, was a natural choice for GlobalLogic, as stated by Vishal Anand, the Vice President of Group and Americas Director at GlobalLogic, in an interview with Forbes Mexico. Anand also emphasized that their expansion into the country is part of their nearshore expansion strategy.

With a global presence and a workforce exceeding 21,000 employees, GlobalLogic is expanding further into Latin America, already operating in Argentina and Chile, and now entering Mexico in a big way. The company plans to hire 1,000 professionals over the next two to three years. Juan Bello, the Vice President and LATAM Director for GlobalLogic, mentioned in the same interview with Forbes Mexico that their focus in Mexico will be on training local talent through upskilling and reskilling initiatives. They aim to teach Mexican professionals new competencies to enhance their performance and provide professional development opportunities to align them with the company's vision and needs. Mexico plays a crucial role in GlobalLogic's plans, as they aspire to make their Mexican operation the primary technology hub in the Americas. Bello emphasized their goal of assisting companies in various industries undergoing digital transformation, stating, "There is a tremendous opportunity for us in that regard; all industries are accelerating their digital transformation, and our focus is to help those companies where technology is central to their business."

The software industry emerges as a winning sector. Hitachi's acquisition of GlobalLogic in 2021 was seen as a strategic move to bolster its digital portfolio, Lumada. Experts believe that companies equipped with robust software capabilities have a competitive edge, while those lacking in this aspect risk falling behind. Software and digital transformation have become essential competencies for nearly every company.
