Southeast Mexico Has a Greater Participation in E-Commerce
E-commerce in Mexico reached 401 billion pesos in 2021, representing a 27% increase from the previous year and accounting for 11.3% of the country's retail sector.
Mexico ranks fifth globally in terms of e-commerce growth, along with India, Brazil, Russia, and Argentina, and surpasses countries like France, Germany, Italy, and Brazil in the weight of e-commerce in total sales.

In 2021, e-commerce reached a value of 401 billion pesos in Mexico, an increase of 27% compared to 2020, to represent 11.3% of the country's retail; the Southeastern zone (18%) had greater participation in the channel than in previous years, but the majority is still concentrated in Mexico City (CDMX), with 30%.
The figures place Mexico in fifth place among countries with the highest growth in e-commerce retail for the third year, on a par with India, Brazil, Russia and Argentina; it is also one of the nations with the highest weight of e-commerce retail in total sales, surpassing France, Germany, Italy and Brazil.
The Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO) stated that, in 2021, the digital consumer highlighted three benefits of buying online: receiving purchases at home (55%), saving time and travel (46%), and finding products that are not available in physical stores (43%).
