Today, the esteemed Canadian coffeehouse chain Tim Hortons celebrated the grand opening of its first store in Mexico City. This expansive establishment, spanning over 300 square meters in the Samara Shops mall in Santa Fe, marks a milestone in Tim Hortons' rapid expansion in Mexico, as it is the company's largest store in the country. With its contemporary and inviting design, this new branch provides an ideal haven for coffee enthusiasts to relish their favorite brews and snacks.

The recent launch underscores Tim Hortons' burgeoning footprint in the country. Since its debut in Mexico in 2017, the coffee giant has unfurled 70 outlets nationwide, including 51 in Nuevo Leon, nine in Queretaro, six in Coahuila, three in the State of Mexico, and the latest addition in Mexico City.

Over the next five years, Tim Hortons is eyeing an investment of approximately 1.8 billion pesos (nearly 100 USD million at an average exchange rate of 18 pesos per dollar) to bolster its brand presence in Mexico, aiming to inaugurate 150 new branches. However, this ambitious target hinges on the company's global financial health, which has reported impressive average annual revenues exceeding 6.5 billion dollars from 2013 to 2022.

Founded in 1964 by the legendary hockey player Tim Horton, this brand took root as a quaint donut shop in Hamilton, Ontario. It has since metamorphosed into a behemoth in the food and beverage industry, boasting over 5,500 global outlets.

Samara Shops: A Strategic Nexus in Mexico City

According to SiiLA, Samara Shops is a sprawling retail hub, covering over 33,400 square meters of gross leasable area (GLA). This property is part of a mixed-use complex that stretches over 140,000 square meters, encompassing a hotel, four A+ class office towers, and 198 outlets housing more than 144 brands. FIBRA Uno (FUNO), the property's owner, cites the complex's annual footfall at a staggering four million, positioning it as a premier shopping destination in southwestern Mexico City.

In the nation's capital, the paramount retail submarket is the North, boasting an inventory surpassing one million square meters. It is closely trailed by submarkets in Aragon, Iztapalapa, Insurgentes, and Santa Fe, each having inventories ranging between 340,000 and 490,000 square meters.
Santa Fe's retail landscape is renowned for its diverse property portfolio, fiercely competed by lifestyle centers, regional malls, and super-regional malls. This eclectic mix of mall formats, coupled with the area's vast corporate belt, earmarks Santa Fe as a pivotal locale for chains like Tim Hortons.

Santa Fe's potent blend of high foot traffic, a myriad of retail choices, and its geographical vantage point serving as a nexus connecting various zones of Mexico City amplify the visibility and accessibility of any business domiciled therein.
