Last week, sustainability firm Eosis announced that the Glorieta Cibeles Tower in Mexico City's Cuauhtemoc district had received LEED Platinum certification, highlighting its impressive energy and water-saving capabilities.

In February of this year, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) awarded the Torre Glorieta Cibeles with LEED Platinum BD+C certification, which recognizes properties that generally meet the highest green standards for design, construction, and major remodeling.

Some of the sustainable features that make the Torre Glorieta Cibeles stand out include its impressive energy savings of 36.5%, water savings of 41%, and embodied carbon savings of 50% through the use of recycled materials. Additionally, the building boasts an efficient artificial lighting system (56%) and a highly effective heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system (67%).

With its 18 levels and a height of 74 meters, the Torre Glorieta Cibeles is located at Plaza Villa Madrid 1 in the Roma Norte neighborhood and offers nearly 5,000 square meters of gross leasable area (GLA) for office space. According to SiiLA Market Analytics, this Class A property is a top contender in the Mexican commercial real estate market.

The Torre Glorieta Cibeles is a prime example of urban recovery and renewal. It was a remodeling project of a building originally constructed in the 1970s that had been abandoned and deemed unsafe following the historical earthquakes of 1985 and 2017. In a report by architectural recognition firm WAN Awards, the tower's transformation is described as "a unique example of innovation and an icon of urban recovery and renewal."

The WAN Awards report notes that the Torre Glorieta Cibeles' transformation was achieved through four essential axes: structure and resilience, comfort and functionality, aesthetic and tectonic design, as well as sustainability, which takes into account both operational and embodied energy.
